Brain, creating stories for us to defend.
We’re all human here. We go through our daily trials and tribulations, generally under the impression that we understand our position and our worth to the world. Or even that we understand how the world itself works, how people are. But do we really? Could that understanding be just a self-generated safety net instead: something that is simply an emotional interpretation of our past experiences, projected into the present?
»Our brains want to be right«
Most people wouldn’t admit their view of the world is a subjective experience. And that is completelly normal. Our brains always want to be right. So they look for moments in our present and our past to confirm our view of the world and the possible future is justified. Brains thrive on creating these patterns. They’re actually very creative and imaginative at building worlds around our own storylines. And we feel threatened when they might be proven wrong. Do you?
