(not) Special: 53
It seems easier to think that we, and the things we do, are special. That we are leaving some kind of a footprint. But out of that unrealistic comfort comes a danger, that often manifests in a feeling that the fruits of our labor do not reflect our true worth, or even that everyone else is luckier than us. Our society is built in a way, where we’re always wanting more, and where envy fuels our goals. Thinking from a double standard, that we are owed something, is often backed up by a mindset that we are, in one way or another, somehow better. But, but… the world is mean, and doesn’t see how special we are really are, right?
MEAN, MEAN WORLD!
On the other hand, not feeling in any way special, is a trait that most of us can benefit from. Wanting to be seen, as how we believe we are, builds a wall between ourselves and the world. Suggesting that anyone else is in any way less, pushes us to forcefully imprint on the world. With that, we want that world to change for us. There can be much comfort in the fact, that it indeed is continuously changing, but never with us in mind. It will always be the way it will be, completely ignoring our “specialness”. We are all just the temporary reflection of the choices we make, and each person is the only one, that can change just the way they want to.
EVERYONE CAN CHANGE.
Knowing that, gives immense strength to try to be better - however, never better THAN others, but every day, attempting to be better FOR others. We can only be special to others, when others are just as special to us.
