Creativity Vs. Productivity

Far too often, we think that being creative means that we should be productive. Expectations are then set and disappointment in self usually follows. However, it’s all due to a simple misunderstanding of semantics, which we tend to internalize and which then lead to internal friction: »I should be more productive, therefore I’m not creative.« Lucky for most of us, that’s simply not true.

Creativity is a state of mind.
Productivity
is a state of action.

One can be super creative in how their mind solves problems. That doesn’t mean that one DOES something to output their creativity. Being productive on the other hand, means that one IS outputting - but not necessarily in a creative way. In the end, it’s perfectly OK to be one or the other, maybe even neither. But in either case: both creativity and productivity can be trained, taught and practiced - which means there are no good excuses, just decisions. Whatever those may be, they are perfectly fine. Just go do you.

The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.
